Hello!
I often use SFX in my demos, but I've tried to be more ambitious and purposeful this time around.
The topic of this demo is also sound-related and it features a certain E-Learning Hero we all know and admire!

- DavidAnderson2 years agoStaffI sonic boom'd my first try. But I crushed it the second go-round.
- ThierryEMMANUEL2 years agoCommunity MemberFascinating! John. Is it a plane? Is it a bird? No! It's Davidman!
- Jonathan_Hill2 years agoSuper HeroA few notes:
- On your first play, try to start the game without reading the rules
- During the game, you should hear a low click each time you change the speed
- Passing through each 100mph zone will cause a sound effect to play
- When you near a certain speed, an alarm will sound
- If you break the sound barrier, you will hear a 'sonic boom', composed of multiple SFX played at once
- When the countdown clock reaches 10 seconds, it will beep
- If you run out of time, you will hear a downbeat tune
- If you make it to the end, you will hear an upbeat tune
- Note the SFX in the closing scene, bringing to life what is otherwise a very simple animation
- The background music will loop for the duration of the game- AnneLynch2 years agoCommunity Memberwas this just motion paths, and variables? I could be completely wrong.
I am nowhere in this yet but would love to me. David or John is there anything in the resources, that will help with this?- Jonathan_Hill2 years agoSuper HeroHi Ciara - yes this is essentially motion paths and variables, with a custom thumb and state changes on the slider too.
This demo uses the same techniques as my demo for the recent accordion challenge, which I wrote about in this blog:

If I get to DevLearn this year I'll likely run a session deconstructing these 'heavily layered' demos further.
I covered similar ground at last year's conference and you can see those presentations and resources here:

- jessicasusila2 years agoCommunity MemberAwesome, Jonathan! That was fun. I sonic boomed really quickly the first time. The second time I noticed the red timer and survived it.
- Jonathan_Hill2 years agoSuper HeroThanks, that's exactly what I was going for! You can fine-tune your speed with the buttons as well, to see how close to the sound barrier you can go. My highest average speed was 740-odd mph 😄
- MarkLivelsbe9102 years agoCommunity MemberVery creative once again. Your ideas always amaze and inspire me!!!
- SamuelApata-e3d2 years agoCommunity MemberGreat tribute! GUILE from Street Fighter hits with the SONIC BOOM as well.
- JodiSansone2 years agoCommunity MemberLoved the graphics!
- Jonathan_Hill2 years agoSuper HeroThanks Jodi - mostly PowerPoint again!
- NajamFazal-6f8b2 years agoCommunity MemberI boomed so many times 😃 Played it without sound and it felt so empty!
