This is great fun. It always amuses me how every language has its own version of animal sounds - some of the traditional English ones are completely unidentifiable. I was reminded of this comic song from the late 1950's by Flanders and Swann. Donald Swann was the second fiddle to his partner Michael Flanders in their stage act, working mainly as his piano accompanist. He had studied at Oxford and was an accomplished linguist and sang this song to highlight Greek animal sounds:
