Hi Montsea, I was wondering what you could use if the learner wants to turn the narration off mid-course? I was looking at shortcut keys and using the master slide? I don't want to have more buttons throughout. Yep, you guessed it, I'm new to storyline and I want to dive into the deep end already.
One thing you could do is lean on Storyline's built in accessibility controls to give learners full control over the volume. This won't pause the audio but it will mute the audio. STin13 I updated the published demo so you can see how it works. One thing I'd recommend is including a custom instructions slide to show learners what keyboard shortcuts are available with the accessibility controls. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I’ve managed to get a working version, although it’s a bit glitchy with layers. At my workplace, we don’t use the built-in accessibility controls because they tend to create extra chatter for learners using screen readers. I’m working on custom accessibility features to reduce that noise and create a smoother, more focused experience for learners.

If you don't want to use buttons to mute the audio, you can check out the JavaScript solutions shared by community members here to mute the playing audio on slides. We don't officially support JavaScript, but we have a JavaScript community you can join if you're interested in this solution!
