Week 1 Discussion
Great work completing this week’s training videos and guided practice activities! You’ve explored how AI Assistant can help you build faster and design smarter in Rise and Storyline. Now it’s time to pause and reflect on what you learned.
✔️ Here's how to participate in the discussion below.
Choose at least two of the questions below to respond to. Then, take a few minutes to read and reply to a few of your peers’ posts. Sharing your insights and experiences helps everyone deepen their learning.
- Which AI Assistant feature felt most intuitive or useful to you during the practice activities?
- What surprised you about how AI handled text or media generation?
- Which editing tools (rewrite, shorten, change tone, etc.) did you find most valuable, and why?
- What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?
Take your time reflecting, and be honest about what worked and what didn’t. Every experience adds to your growing skill set as an AI-powered course designer.

What surprised you about how AI handled text or media generation?
I was surprised at how much the AI photo generation has improved within Articulate. The cinematic photo generation is more realistic than before and I can see myself using it more in my daily work.
Which editing tools (rewrite, shorten, change tone, etc.) did you find most valuable, and why?
A lot of the content that we receive is medical, so it is helpful to shorten the information and create a bulleted list. This allows lengthy medical terms to be easily digestible for the learners.

- Which AI Assistant feature felt most intuitive or useful to you during the practice activities?
- Fortunately, the features are all very intuitive. Even when I made mistakes or couldn't find what I was looking for, after a couple of clicks, I was right back in action.
- Which editing tools (rewrite, shorten, change tone, etc.) did you find most valuable, and why?
- I love the ability to rewrite to a more professional tone. Also, shortening or lengthening depending on how much detail I want for the learner.

Which AI Assistant feature felt most intuitive or useful to you during the practice activities? AI image generator felt most intuitive since I've used that before in Storyline and have some experience tweaking the prompts to get what I want. I'm excited to try all the others now though.
Which editing tools (rewrite, shorten, change tone, etc.) did you find most valuable, and why? I think they are all worth trying, but to be honest, I'm a bit skeptical of letting AI rewrite things without very careful proofreading. Although users are always "warned" to check AI text carefully, I find that many people do not, and it ends up sounding fake, too wordy, inaccurate, etc.
On another note, is there an "undo" button/arrow in Rise? Maybe I overlooked it. 🤪

- Which AI Assistant feature felt most intuitive or useful to you during the practice activities? The text editing tools/shortcuts
- Which editing tools (rewrite, shorten, change tone, etc.) did you find most valuable, and why? All of them are great, I view them as shortcuts that speed up production.

For me, the "rewrite" tool is a total game-changer. I work a lot with SMEs, and sometimes their content can get a bit dense or super technical. I find the rewrite function incredibly helpful for simplifying complex ideas and trimming down word count, making it much easier for people to read and understand.
What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?
When I ask AI to elaborate, it sometimes adds flowery adjectives instead of actually extending the content. This can be a challenge because the goal is to add substance, not just embellishment. It seems like the AI interprets "elaborate" in a way that prioritizes descriptive language over factual expansion.

I was surprised at some of the AI misses. Why does it misspell words? Also, why does it regularly add an image to the back of a laptop? What was both a surprise and a challenge is the inability to ask AI to modify an image. I sometimes got images that were close to what I wanted but they may have had something wrong like it had the same person in the image twice or the laptop had the screen on the back. It would have been nice to say use image 4 and change the issue. Instead, it seems you have to rewrite your prompt and hope you get an image as good as the one with the error. (Or manually fix the image.) This is not to say that I do not like this wonderful tool. I just would like it to do what I want. LOL

Relative to my day-to-day, the AI TTS has been the most useful. It's simple, straight-forward and very, very rarely mispronounces something (e.g., the difference between CONtent and conTENT).
The challenges I've faced have mostly been with generating sound effects that don't sound overly processed/synthesized and images that don't have generation artifacts or errors. The latter I attribute though to a lack of specificity in those particular prompts as it seems being specific and narrow reduces complexity, limiting opportunities for hallucinations.

1. Which editing tools did you find most valuable, and why?
The rewrite tool has proven to be exceptionally valuable, especially during moments when I find myself struggling to articulate a specific idea or phrase. It acts as a powerful brainstorming partner, offering a diverse range of suggestions that often spark clarity and help me discover the most effective wording.
2. What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?
A notable observation arose when I began replacing static images with AI-generated ones. I discovered that the AI-generated images did not automatically include alt text by default. This would not only streamline the accessibility workflow but also ensure that our commitment to inclusivity is consistently met across all our digital content.

Oh wow, I didn't realize there was no alt text generated either. That should be an easy one and should go in automatically!

I chose these questions:
- Which AI Assistant feature felt most intuitive or useful to you during the practice activities? Inserting AI audio - I can't believe I haven't used that in the past. I already have ideas on how to convert a lesson to a script so I can have characters in a conversation to teach a lesson.
- What surprised you about how AI handled text or media generation? I haven't used the image generation that much, and I see it's actually gotten better since I last used it. So I'll use that feature in my next course development.

I chose these 2:
- Which AI Assistant feature felt most intuitive or useful to you during the practice activities? The AI voice over feature - I can't believe I haven't used it more - looking forward to using it on my next project.
- What surprised you about how AI handled text or media generation? The AI generated images are much better than in the past - I'll be using those more.
