Can learner answers be "pasted" into a text entry Quiz question?

Aug 07, 2023

I created quiz questions both fill-in the blank and Freeform text entry and need the learner to copy their answer from another document outside of Storyline and paste in the field. I've tested Ctrl + V, Ctrl, Shift V and neither works.

FYI - I also "pasted" my acceptable answers in the answers. I even tried to type in the answer in the acceptable answer field, nothing works in grading the question correctly. The Answers are very long sentence.

Any ideas?

Hi Pamela,

Happy to help!

I tested this feature on my end and can confirm that I was able to paste text into a text entry box without any issues.

Are you unable to paste text into your published courses regardless of which browser you use? If so, please make sure that nothing in your organization is blocking the text from being pasted. Additionally, you can also try doing a repair of your Storyline 360 installation before republishing your courses to see if this helps.

If the issue persists, would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at the reported behavior? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

It is more about “grading” the answer. I can paste the text, but it grades it as incorrect.

These are long sentences, and I’ve pasted the “acceptable answers” into those fields as well. It is pasted answer by learner to pasted acceptable answer for grading.

I even tried typing the long sentence into the acceptable response and it still counted it as incorrect.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Pam

Hi Pamela!

Thanks for following up and sharing the extra feedback!

I'd be happy to take a closer look at your project file to see what could be causing your answers to not be graded correctly. If you're willing, you can share a copy here in the discussion or privately through a support case.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Pamela,

We're still not seeing the file on our end which means that your organization might be blocking the upload. I opened a support case on your behalf to get you in touch with our support engineers. They'll be able to share alternative methods for sharing project files with you. Please be on the lookout for an email from them!

Hi Pamela!

No worries, hope you had a wonderful vacation! 🏖️

I'm not seeing the .story file on our end. If you could please try re-uploading your .story file to this personalized upload link, my colleague Dexter, who is working with you in your support case, can take a closer look.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend! ✨

Hi Pamela,

I'm happy to chime in! Apologies for the mix-up; please try this upload link. It should bring you to a page named "Upload your files." Click the Add Attachment button to upload your Storyline file directly to your support case with Dexter.

Please let me know if you need additional assistance uploading the file. I'm happy to help!
