Can't Preview a Scene from a Branching Scenario

Dec 11, 2021

Hello everyone!

Let me start by saying that I am new to Storyline and as part of getting acquainted with the program, I created a branching scenario. For some reason, Storyline doesn't allow me to preview one of the scenes. The "Error Report" window pops up every time I try to preview a scene or even a slide from the scene.

For testing purposes, I have disconnected it from all other scenes. Got rid of all the layers and additional variables. Reinstalled Articulate completely and ran the program to "repair" it. Wouldn't help.

I can certainly recreate the scene from scratch again, but it has become like a riddle to me that I really want to solve. I shall be grateful for any advice!

Thank you!

PS. I'm using Parrallels to run Articulate on my Mac.

Jogo,

There character/states you have on the very first slide (1.1 step 2) are corrupted.  If you remove the states (Marilyn and Andrew) and recreate them, the entire module starts working again.

I've attached an updated .story file for you that is now working.

Luciana,

Sorry but I don't have Storyline 3 installed to troubleshoot with.  When I hear there is some type corruption, my first step is to save the file and then start deleting slides until the problem goes away. It's a laborious process but it does help me find the exact slide that is corrupted. For example, if you have 3 scenes, create a copy of your project and delete two of the scenes. If it works, you now know the problem is somewhere in one of the other scenes. Like I said, it's a process but I always find the corrupted slide that way.

Hope that helps.

Richard
