Can the results from one 'Draw from Question Bank' populate another?

Nov 30, 2022

Hello!

I've created various question banks in Storyline 360 that reinforce similar content. I'd like a user's results in question bank A to determine which questions they're given in question bank B and so on. Each question is from a different category. I'll use common quiz topics to explain what I'd like to do.

In the draw from question bank A, let's suppose a user gets questions correct on geography, history and sport but questions wrong on entertainment, literature and science. I want to dish up the draw from question bank B so that either:

- the topics they previously got right (geography, history, sport) are not included in the second draw; or

- the topics they previously got wrong (entertainment, literature, science) are loaded first (or there are more of them) in the second draw.

Is this possible? Thanks for your ideas!

Daniel - I'm intrigued by your concept here but freely admit that I'm about as stumped as you are.

You may try this link for some ideas: https://community.articulate.com/articles/a-behind-the-scenes-look-at-how-i-designed-this-gamified-quiz

Or these: https://articulate.com/support/article/Storyline-360-Manage-Scoring-for-Question-Banks-with-Branching and https://articulate.com/support/article/Storyline-360-Allow-Learners-to-Review-and-Retry-Only-Incorrect-Questions

I think what you want to do is possible but will require a good deal of branching based on variables that depend on the user score. So your initial idea of one bank with multiple topic questions may not be best. If you limited your first bank to one topic, then you would be in a better position to direct the user to an appropriate second bank, I think. That would also permit you to draw more questions about the (failed) first topic if need be.

Good luck!
