Change properties of Zoom Picture

Oct 21, 2013

Hello,

There are pictures inserted in our questions in the question bank. Can I / how do I maximize the area the picture zooms to when the zoom picture magnifier is clicked. If it won't zoom enough to tell detail, will I have to create a link and place the object on another slide? TIA!

Hi Andrea and welcome to Heroes!

When you use the "Zoom picture" function, it will zoom so that the image is full screen. You could use the insert Zoom Region to zoom to a particular part of an image, although it's based on a particular point in the timeline, not assigned to a trigger.

Hi,

Placing the object in another layer would be the best option. What you could do is have a trigger on the question image that when user hovers over to show the layer with the larger image and have some sort of trigger to close this layer when the user clicks or does something else returning you to the question slide.

It seems to me that it enlarges to a point that it would be full screen based on the original size of the picture... I hope that makes sense. This means if you brought a picture in and resized it smaller it will only enlarge until that original size would fill the screen.

Try resizing the picture first and then reinserting it and add the zoom picture function.

Hello Aesara,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing along with the images, but I'm still unclear what you see.

I want to look at your project file to investigate what's happening with your permission. You can share it publicly here or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when troubleshooting is complete.

Hi Steven,

Although you can't control where the zoomed image will appear, you can follow the steps outlined in this article to create your own zoom effect using states.

How to Create Your Own Zoom Picture Effect in Articulate Storyline

Through the use of states, you can create a zoom effect by adding a custom state to your image containing a larger version of the normal image. You can then make use of triggers to activate the state change.

I've attached a sample file which demonstrates the effect.

Hope this helps!
