Create perfect geometric curvy lines.

Hi all

Can anyone help me please? I want to create an interaction which is like a loose weave of several lines. A bit like sine and cosine, but a bit flatter.

I need the curves to be uniform in shape and I'm struggling to create them by hand!

I've tried importing lines from a vector template in Adobe Illustrator, but it imports it as an image and I need to be able to manipulate the lines with hover over states and it is just a bit glitchy when I start to overlay the 'lines'.

Have attached a screenshot from Illustrator of the type of thing I'm trying to create in storyline.

Many thanks

Matt

  • If you're building them in Storyline, you could setting up some guidance with the grid and the curved tool. The challenge is that you don't have access to the edit points. Maybe working in PPT to build the lines would be easier, then export as an image.

Surely you must see how awful the curve looks once you click to save it. This tool is less than useless for creating nice smooth curves; it's a waste of time. I have been complaining about it since 2016.

  • Hi Matt!

Glad to see Tom has been helping you with your design!

I just wanted to share that our team is monitoring a bug in Storyline causing curved lines to deviate from the intended path while authoring. I've linked this discussion to the bug report so you can be notified as soon as a fix is in place.

In the meantime, we suggest exploring the workaround Tom shared, using PowerPoint to build the lines, and then importing them to Storyline as an image.

Have a great rest of your week!
