I love the drag and drop template and thought the green design element on the upper left wouldn't be a problem but it is after all. I am new to Storyline and I don't see where in the template I can remove that item. Thank you. I added a screenshot below.

The green design in the drag-and-drop flow template is part of the Slide Master. You can remove it by going to View > Slide Master:
