How to make a learner draw their own graph line?

Jan 06, 2022

Hi everyone,
I am hoping someone here has a clever idea. I need learners to draw a line between dots in a graph. E.g. in the first column they need to connect the dots corresponding with line 12, 15, 18 and 7. How can I provide them with this exercise? Any ideas are welcome!
Thanks so much, Rosanne

I did something like this once, but it was for matching 3 or 4 items. The problem was that it was based on the concept that there was a very small number of options. and they had to draw to one of those.  I used sliders, and uncovered the thumb, which was a long line. It was a lot of work, and only worked if they drew to the exact option, and they only had two or three options.  I don't think it would work for what you want.

You might try having them drag a dot, and if it is dropped on the right number, a state changes to show the line. I don't think you can get what you want with a line actually stretching out, and to allow too many wrong options would be a lot of work.

Sorry.

Hi Walt, Thanks for sharing your experience, both your work and my task seem a bit daunting. I was thinking I might do it per column (one correct dit in the line of 19 (!), give them three chances and if they didn't select the right one by then, they will be shown it. Moving to the next coloumn, the line will draw itself  in between the correct spots. Hope that makes sense... No need for a sorry at all, thanks for reaching out!
