How to replay a slide?

Hi! I want to put in a button so that a user can replay a slide. I have put in a button and set it to jump to the slide when it is clicked, and set the slide to reset to original state. However, when I try it out, the slide restarts, but without the audio. I have also put in pause and play buttons, by getting them to show and hide a blank layer that pauses the timeline of the base slide. These work fine.
Is there any trigger to restart the timeline?

Rebecca,
I added a button with the trigger jump to slide (the name of the current slide with the audio) and set prop. like you said to initial state and it works. Sounds like I did the same thing you have done.
From your description, this should work. If you can share your file here, we can have a look and see what's going on.
A while ago, I had done a sample with a toggle button to pause/play the audio (with triggers, not a layer that pauses the baselayer) and a restart button to replay the slide, see here. Maybe that gives you some ideas.
It does seem odd - I just tried an earlier page where the button worked fine, and its doing the same thing, so it looks like it might be my my computer. But I have no idea how to fix it!
Hmmm... your test file works fine, even though its set exactly the same! I shall try and upload my file for you...
Hi Rebecca,
The same problem (no audio) occurs with me when I restart, after I have paused the page. A work around could be, that the restart button jumps to an empty slide, which when the timeline starts jumps back to the slide you want restart.
It's not pretty, but it worked for me.
I'm going round in circles now! I deleted all the other scenes from my module in order to upload it, and now the button works. How could deleting other scenes make the button work?
Rebecca,
Is this happening in the same project as the one you are having random quiz numbering problems with? If so you may have a corrupt slide in one of the scenes you deleted. I would start by deleting one scene at a time to find the one that is causing the problem.
Ok, i have replicated the problem on 3 slides. It only seems to happen if I have previously clicked on the pause or play buttons, but Im not sure why.
How do I upload the file? I have tried clicking on the paperclip and selecting my file but when I click on upload the window just closes...
Oops, look like it did work after all!
Hi Kevin, thanks for your reply, it is the same project, but I think I hadn't tested it thoroughly enough before I suggested that deleting the scenes corrected it! I hadn't tried pausing the slide and then replaying, which seems to be what is causing the problem. Not sure why though - the pause layer has nothing on it and doesnt prevent the user from clicking on anything on the base layer. Plus it seems to partly work - the slide restarts, but the audio doesnt.
Can you combine the two sound files together to make one long one?
I've added a workaround to the first slide, see attachment.
I could, but the same problem happens throughout the module, and most pages just have a single sound file, so I dont think it will help!
Thanks for the work around Stjin - it works great to start with, but after I've replayed the slide, the pause button stops working! I think my pause/replay buttons are terminally incompatible....
Rebecca,
I got you project to work by adding two triggers and doing some audio editing. First I made the two sound files one, then added a trigger to play media "the sound file" when timeline starts, then a second to play media when user clicks on the button. I'm going to try an upload the files.
Hi! Thanks for looking at it - do you think you could upload teh .story file please so I can see how it works? Many thanks!
Take a look and I went back in and the play and pause buttons still work like you designed so they have no problems with the replay slide button.
It seemed it stopped working when you restart when the pause layer is still active. I've added a trigger that hides the the layer when you restart. It should work now.
One problem - the audio describes animations that are happening on the screen, so the audio must be in sync with the timeline. I need to pause the whole timeline, not just the audio....
Sorry about that I think I have the right one now new to uploading files on here and really not sure which one I should upload.
Never Mind sorry about all that was in the wrong folder
Aha! thank you so much for all your help! I think I have it now! I have set the replay button to hide the pause layer, and put a trigger to play the audio when the slide starts. This combination appears to work, although I was worried that I'd end up with the audio playing twice... Now I need to apply it to all 60 slides......
Thanks!
Here's a copy of the working file:
Works like a charm.
Wow! Thanks everyone for all the help that you provided to Rebecca!
