Incorrect file package - missing imsmanifest.xml or AICC structure

Feb 24, 2014

Hello

I have created a module in articulate but it will not load to Moodle. I am told by them that the problem is Incorrect file package - missing imsmanifest.xml or AICC structure. (Though when I try to upload it advises me the file is too big, despite being only 8000KB)

I have read advice on the imsmanifest and tried all sorts of tips to correct but to no avail (checking there is an imsmanifes file - there is, checking I have added keywords and description to reporting and tracking - I have) - any idea what I can do to get the course to upload?

It is still a work in progress but need to demo the web objects and video content to my manager, so need to put online as preview mode is not fully functional in these aspects in Articulate.

I have attached the zip file of the story  - if anyone can spot the issue/guide me as to what I need to do in Articulate to correct it, please do let me know!

Thanks in hope!...

Caty

Hi Caty,

I could see your imsmanifest.xml file in the output you shared, and was also able to successfully publish your course to SCORM Cloud (you can view it here). I did notice that when I downloaded your file, it added some + signs in the place of your spaces, and typically I try to publish without space and use an underscore instead. I update the file path to have no spaces and then rezipped it before publishing. Since it successfully loads in SCORM Cloud, you'll want to share that with your Moodle team, and you may also want to look at your publish settings as well (did you need to publish for AICC or which version of SCORM?).

Hi Ashley

Thank you so much for your response! This is so helpful. We use SCORM 1.2 which is the most readily compatible with Moodle (so I am told) and this is the setting I had used. I think that there is something else going on with our Moodle settings - only one of their team mentioned this AICC error to me, but the others have said the file size is too large - not sure they know what they are talking about (which doesn't help a novice like me!) It is great to know that it will load though, and that there is not a problem with the imamanifest.xml as they had indicated.

Wish me luck getting through to Moodle now!...

Cheers

Hi Caty,

where you able to solve the SCORM acticulate problem in moodle?

Its my first day with Scorm1.2 from articulate and I had never problems with Scorm from other tools.

How did you solve the issue?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi Guido and welcome to Heroes!

I'm not sure what Caty ended up doing with Moodle, but you may want to send her a private message as I'm also not certain she's subscribed to this thread. Also, could you tell us a bit more about the issues you're experiencing - did you try it on SCORM Cloud to help narrow down that the issue was with Moodle?

Hello Karyn,

I apologize. You posted in the Storyline forum, so I thought you were working with Storyline.

I took a look at the zip file you shared, and it doesn't appear to have any LMS elements. Did you publish to LMS?

In order to properly test, we would need you to share your Articulate Package for us to take a look.

The .pptx file you shared above may not have all the elements you added from Presenter.

I did test publishing it and it was successful though.

My advice, go back into Presenter and publish to LMS (you may want to consider a shorter file name as well), then zip the contents from the publish successful dialog box.

If you need me to take a look, please share the Articulate Package as the instructions above share.

So I have a file that works in SCORM cloud and on the articulate tempshare.  However the client says that it won't load into their LMS (Oracle).  They are getting an error message about the manifest.  They want a "zipped" manifest but I follow all the SCORM 1.2 zipping rules and the manifest remains an xml document.

Any thoughts?  I have attached the zip file and an image of what they are looking for.

Hi Ashley,

Have you asked your Oracle team to take a look at the existing zipped output that Storyline created and worked in SCORM Cloud? Perhaps they could point out using that exactly what is missing/wrong in the way your package is zipped.

If it's working a SumTotal and SCORM Cloud it's a great sign that it's matching the SCORM standards, so next I'd ask for more guidance from Oracle.

Thanks for your follow-up, Ashley! Great question–I foraged around, and could not find any nested zip of the manifest.xml file scenarios.

Like my teammate, Ashley, I'm curious to know Oracle's rhyme and reason for this and if they had a chance to examine the SCORM Cloud results? Looking forward to hearing back!
