Issue with Auto Advance with Conditions

Dec 21, 2021

I have two slides that each have multiple layers that need to be reviewed before moving to the next side. They are attached here. I have done this many times before and am using the same process as before, including:

Creating Completed States for each image

Having the image mark complete when the timeline ends on the layer

Having Conditions on the auto advance trigger that it should only advance if each image on the screen is in completed state

I'm not sure why for this particular course this is not working the way it has for all of my previous courses. I've looked at all my triggers and slide settings and they are the same on these two as on previous courses. If anyone could take a look and see why the jump to next slide trigger with the conditions are not working that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, James.

Thank you for sharing your .story file!

When looking in Story View, I noticed your slides were set to advance automatically:

Windows 10 (1) 2021-12-21 at 3.03.04 PM

So by the end of the timeline, the user jumps to the next slide regardless of the triggers you set up. Changing it to By User fixes this issue.

My other suggestion would be to change the main trigger in slide 1.2 to:

  • Jump to slide 1.3 when the state of all pictures is Completed.

While this change is not necessary (since you also check for the states in all of your layers), it's what I'd consider best practices.

If you ever change the way the layers work, that trigger will not work as currently set (when the timeline ends), if the user takes longer than 19 seconds (the length of the timeline) to visit all the layers.

I hope this helps!
