Multiple iterations of built-in variables

Jan 31, 2023

I'm looking at a team member's template that is having issues displaying the quiz results slide. The slide won't display and just shows the loading/waiting animation (three dots). While investigating the issue I noticed that there are multiple iterations of the built-in variables. When I add built-in variables to a slide then that slide has the eternal waiting/loading animation and will not display. As expected I'm not able to delete or 'clean up' these extra built-in variable iterations. Any ideas on how I might fix this issue?

Thanks for any assistance or insight.

It sounds a lot like a corrupted slide.

1. Delete and recreate the slide from scratch, without reusing any component. If that doesn't work, try

2. Start new project. Import all slides, except the offending slide. If not, you may need to

3. Repair or reinstall SL, or revert to the last working backup, or as a last resort, rebuild the project from scratch,

FYI: When you insert a new Results slides, Storyline automatically creates the necessary scoring variables.

But if you copy, duplicate, or import an existing Results slide, well, that's gonna mess things up. So if you need another Results slide, insert another new Results slide. You can then copy and paste objects and text as needed (or apply custom layouts) to make it look like the original Results slide..
