Narration not synchronized with audio waveform

Sep 25, 2017

So I have the most up to date version of Articulate 360, and the narration is not synchronized with the audio waveform in the audio editor.  It appears that this was an issue in the past, but it also appears that it was resolved with an update.  Mine, however, is still off.  Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Rebekah, sorry you're running into this. We did fix an issue with the audio and the waveform in a recent Storyline 360 update, but now we're seeing another related issue that tends to pop up when there's a long audio file. It seems that the audio and waveform get more out of sync the longer the audio plays. Is that what you're seeing, too?

Would you mind sharing your file with me? The more examples we can get of this bug the easier it will be for us to pinpoint the problem and find a fix. You can attach it to a new thread comment, or send it to me privately here. Thanks!

Jumping in here.  I'm experiencing the exact same issue.  I'm on SL 3 though.  I have a large project with a lot of audio embedded.  Slides with long audio (longer then 1 minute) will run out of sync with the waveform.  The further down the file the worse the delay gets.  I would say there is at least a 2-3 second latency.  I am running the latest build of SL3.  Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Sorry you're running in this problem, Graham. I'm happy to help investigate!

I haven't heard similar reports on the latest version of Storyline 3 yet, and I'm glad you brought this to our attention.

With your permission, our Support Engineers can take a closer look. They're experts at nailing down the cause of such issues. If that works for you, you can upload your .story file privately to the team here. They'll delete it when they're done looking it over!

Jumping back in on this.  Sorry, I never saw the response to my post.  I'm still noticing this issue.  I'm on the very latest build of SL360.  I'm seeing at least a 2-3 second latency between onscreen waveform and playback audio.  I'm not using mp3 file but high res wav files.  However, I notice the audio gets converted upon import and lists an mp3 file extension when I roll my mouse cursor over the audio file. I'm editing my animations by sight and not by sound meaning I found that lining up the wav form gaps to my animations.  I defiantly seems that the audio is starting before the playback of the timeline has begun playing.

Yikes, sorry we had a hard time connecting a while back on this one, Graham! We'd love to get back to it with you!

I spotted a case we have open with you, so I've emailed an upload link to you from there to keep our communication in one spot. Could you share the most up-to-date files? Then one of our support engineers will reach out shortly after with the next step!
