Photoshop, Illustrator & Storyline

Jan 09, 2020

Hi all,

Everything I can find in the discussions is several years old without much of an answer. It's my understanding that the only way to import Photoshop/Illustrator files with distinct layers is to first import it into PowerPoint and then import THAT into Storyline.

I have a Photoshop file with 20+ layers that all need to be discrete in order to create a drag and drop quiz. I do not look forward to building this in Ps, adjusting in PowerPoint, then readjusting in Storyline.

I've read that PowerPoint is robust enough for most users needs, but I do not find this to be true. It's also an extra step for those of use using vector graphics and who want to use actual media editing software we use daily for our other work.

Any updates to this integration or is there a better workflow? Am I missing something?

Hi Lindsay!

I can see how that would require a lot of work! Storyline supports these image types

Can you export any of your Photoshop or Illustrator files as any of the supported image types? This would eliminate having to move them into PowerPoint.

I'll let our community weigh in if they've found a workaround for adding Photoshop and/or Illustrator images to Storyline. I'm eager to see what you come up with!

Hi! I just want to add that I am facing a similar issue and have also been surprised there isn't much more discussion about it. An organization partnering with mine to create a course is building their portion of the content in Photoshop, also with several layers, and I am combining it with my content in Storyline. It would be great if there was an easier way to import the files directly from Photoshop without the added step of PowerPoint.

Thanks!

Hi Renee,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the changes you would like to see!

I wanted to share that we are tracking requests to support broader image types like SVG images. I will be sure to include your comments on our active report. If we have any updates to share about these changes, we will be sure to reach out!

Hi, I am creating  courses that  have many  images . I have created  these images with Illustrator (quality images, complex images, etc) to develop different  Storyline's activities. I have invested a lot of time trying to move that images to power point.  Please any other easy way to do that?  any news?

Years ago ( 2014-2015 ) i developed a Photoshop script that created a Lectora title from a given PSD. See here
http://www.mathnotermans.nl/PSD2Lectora/

I tried to get that working for Storyline but failed at the more closed setup of Storyline.

But i got it partly working... so i do think it is possible. And maybe with some help of Articulate engineers we can manage.

So im gonna give it another try. Photoshop and Storyline both changed, so not sure how successfull i will be.

Hi all,

It's been five months since the last post and I'm only just looking at needing to do this now. Once I read these comments/suggestions are tracked, I figured I should add my post as well.

I created a layered cycle in photoshop and I would love to be able to import it as is, and animate/work with layers individually in SL.

Do we have any news on this yet?
