Print Slide Accessibility

Apr 07, 2023

Hello, I am working on a project that includes a large number of possible action strategies for learners to use in their work. As a way to make the strategies more relevant, I wanted to allow learners the ability to select 1 strategy as a "quick win strategy" and one strategy as a "stretch goal strategy." Then, I would like learners to be able to print/save those two strategies in some way.

I have attached a storyline file mockup of what I am aiming for as well as a Review 360 link so the print page feature will function properly. For context, this mockup is designed to be placed after the learners have reviewed the strategies and their descriptions.

The issue I am having is that the resulting "Save Your Toolkit" pdf is not searchable which does not meet the accessibility standards of this course. Does anyone know of another way to solve this?

I have tried working with jsPDf in JavaScript but I can't get it to work on our LMS. Similarly, I tried editing a results slide to fit our content, but unfortunately that seems to be a bit beyond my level.

Thank you for any suggestions you might have.

Hi Patrick!

I appreciate you sharing what you are experiencing with your pdf and sharing the course and review link for testing.

I used your review link and the Save Your Toolkit button to create a pdf. When I open this pdf in Adobe Acrobat, the content is searchable.

  • How are you accessing your pdf when it is not searchable?
  • Is this issue only happening when the course is hosted in your LMS?

Please let me know if I've misunderstood the issue you are experiencing. I'm happy to look into this further.

Thank you for the response. I have the option to "Save as PDF" and as an "Adobe PDF." I had been defaulting to "Adobe PDF," assuming there would be more accessibility features embedded. However, when I select "Save as PDF" I get a searchable document! That was an easy fix, thanks.

I haven't tried it on our LMS yet. I hope it still allows the same functions.
