Reset position of objects on drag-and-drop quiz when results are incorrect?
So I figured out how to reset the quiz using these directions https://community.articulate.com/series/articulate-storyline-2/articles/choosing-the-number-of-attempts-for-graded-questions-in-articulate-storyline-2
However, when it restarts the objects are still in the incorrect dropped position. I even selected the object choices and used the Drag & Drop Options to "Return item to start point if dropped outside any drop target".
Story is attached.

Hi Michael!
Thank you so much for attaching your file! It makes troubleshooting a breeze!
I've created a short tutorial explaining the two changes you need to make. You can view that here!
For others who might come across a similar snag, here are the two changes we made:
- First, edit the slide properties by setting the "When Revisiting" setting to "Reset to Initial State".
- Second, edit the setting on the "Try Again" layer to "Jump to Slide" rather than "Hide Layer".
Let me know if you have any questions, Michael!

Hello - I'm having the same problem so have followed the steps you suggested above, however it keeps giving me unlimited attempts and does not show the incorrect layer after 3 wrong attempts. Resetting to initial state seems to reset the 'attempts' count too.
If anyone has had this problem and has a solution please let me know, thank you!

Hi, Danielle.
Thank you for reaching out!
You are correct: the number of attempts is also reset when using the "reset to initial state" option, making them unlimited. You can fix this by using variables. Here's a discussion with some tips on how to do this.
Another option is to use motion paths to return objects to the start position.
I found a few discussions that should help you with this option:
- Try Again Button does not direct back to beginning of Slide.
- Drag and Drop Solution - Sample with Multiple Correct Targets with drag off and return plus a lot more.
I hope this helps!
