Restricted Settings Suddenly Shows Locked in LMS

Jan 04, 2024

Hi Team,

Our organization created a big course with 20 modules in it. We released it 8 months back and it worked smoothly.  In the last 6 months, based on user feedbacks, we did Minor changes and would upload the updated SCORM of the module on LMS and it would work smoothly.

We selected the Restricted Settings for navigation for all our courses. It kept the TOC locked until it was viewed.  Our publishing setting is SCORM 1.2.

Recently in the past two months, specifically after the Dec 14th Update, the files that I have updated and created SCORM, when it was uploaded shows an "Error Initialization communication with LMS" when we open that particular module in LMS. We click OK on the pop-up, and the module starts from the last left slide. However, all slides before that have a lock in it rather than open tick we should have.

If I start a new attempt, it starts and works smoothly, but if I log out or close browser and come back, the same issue of lock appears.

I even tried producing from SCORM from another laptop but still the same issue.

I am attaching the debug report for the error.

Kindly help.

Hello Ashish James,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.

We are currently tracking a known issue where the menu remains restricted on resume when the navigation behavior is set to "Restricted" and the resume behavior is "Always resume". Based on your description of the behavior, where a menu item remains locked instead of appearing as already visited upon resume, there's a chance that you might be affected by this bug. The only way to know for sure is to test your project file.

Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case for testing? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Alternatively, you can also try the following troubleshooting steps to see if they work for you:

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Ashish!

Thanks for following up and sharing the extra details!

Great move on opening a support case! I see that you've connected with my teammate Philam. You're in excellent hands troubleshooting with him!

We can continue the conversation through your case to help keep all information in one spot.
