It would be more helpful to take a look at the project file so that we can see the triggers and design. You can share it publicly here or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
Hi Leslie - I'm wondering if you could assist please. Similar thread. I'm a beginner to Storyline and building basic interactions to practice. For some reason my slider isn't working. It was a few days ago but for some reason I can't seem to make this one work yet all the triggers and set-up are the same. The slider doesn't move but if I click along the slider bar the layer changes take effect. If I slide the actual slider "tab" it moves along the bar but doesn't show changes to layers.
Thank you for sharing your .story file! It looks like you created a slider on each layer, so your project had four sliders instead of only the main one.
I deleted those additional sliders, and everything seems to work now when I preview it:
I also added a trigger to hide the happiness layer when the slider goes back to the beginning (value = 0).
I'm trying to work out how I made that error as I hadn't manually added additional sliders to each page. All I'd done is duplicate the base layer to create my first sublayer. Is this not correct?
Thank you again for identifying the problem - super helpful - and for the additional tip to add a trigger to hide happiness layer when going back to 0. I've learnt another something new cheers!
I'm happy it works now, and that you learned something new! 😊
When you duplicate the base layer to another one, it copies all the objects and pastes them on a new layer on top of the existing one, which is why the other sliders were created.
Think of the layers as transparent sheets of paper you put on top of a drawing. You can still see the drawing below (base layer), but it allows you to draw additional objects without affecting the original one.
I'd recommend creating a new layer instead of duplicating the base layer:

I'm attaching the edited .story file.
Let me know if this works!
Great thank you. Yes it works great now.
