Storyline 2 Motion paths

I'm loving the new motion path feature - but I've already found one problem - once you've added a motion path you can't delete it; there's no "none" setting as per the other animations. The only way to get rid of it is to delete the item it's attached to and then start again. Could be a useful addition to the UI - and gives continuity to the other animation settings.
Other than that I've been having a whale of a time using the new features - especially the ability to pause the timeline, tween objects and update variables and states with the new sliders.
Great work!

You can click on the motion path itself and then press Delete.
Seems obvious now! Thanks!
I am having this problem. I can create motion paths, and then select them. Delete key does not do anything. I am on a Macbook Pro running vm ware windows 7.
Hey Micah,
I also run VMWare Fusion on a MBP / Win7. To delete function to work using the Mac keyboard, press "Fn + delete"
i'm having almost this same problem. while i'm able to select the pre-fabricated motion path (circle, square, etc.) and delete it, i'm unable to select a custom freeform motion path that i've created. i'm only able to change it. i want to delete it.
Hi Beth,
I don't know that I've seen this yet - can you confirm you're working locally as described here ? Does this happen with all your SL2 files - if so, can you try to conduct the repair here.
Unfortunately this doesn't always work as selecting the motion path is very "buggy", and sometimes is a difficult task. It is also difficult to tell if you have actually selected the path or not.
Hi Dude Man,
If you have a number of motion paths all together it may be difficult to select the correct one, but you should be able to remove it. If there is a different way that you'd prefer it behaves, can you share some details in the form of a feature request?
Figured it out - at least for me. I shrank the graphic until the motion path was outside of the graphic. I could then select the motion path and delete it without deleting the graphic. Hope this helps.
In Slide View, you could also zoom in until you can reliably click and select a motion path.
Thanks for sharing your solutions as well Jessica and Michael :) So many ways to do things.
Super smart!!
Hi Heidi!
Glad that this older thread was able to assist you as well :) Thanks for popping in to share.
Here's one nobody has mentioned. I had a particularly pesky motion path that I could not delete after trying all the suggestions in various posts--shrinking the image didn't work for me either :( . What I thought I would try was clicking on the image and then Send to Back, as it seems to be an issue of not being able to select just the motion path, so you end up deleting the image too. Of course, my image was sitting on top of a picture background and a black transparent box, so I had to move those out of the way first or my image just disappeared behind those two. When I did Send to Back, the mirror image showed up at the end of the motion path, as it should, so I knew I had the little critter cornered! Then it is easy to select the motion path and press Delete. Try this, if you're at the end of your rope!
My goodness Peggy - that was a little adventure. Thanks so much for popping in to share your findings and solution with the community.
Does not work! The motion path still will not delete. grrrrrrrrrr
Hi Lambert!
We are happy to troubleshoot this issue with you. Since this thread is outdated, can you provide more details on what you're noticing with motion paths? When you say they won't delete, are you also not able to select the motion path on the slide?
Also, this thread was initially posted about Storyline 2. Are you using Storyline 2 as well? Lastly, can you provide a Peek showing us what this behavior looks like on your end?
