Storyline Multiple Choice: 5th choice is a different format

May 04, 2021

Windows 10. STL360

I have a multiple choice question with 5 choices. The 5th choice shows with completely different formatting. Can anyone explain why? How can I change the formatting to match choices 1-4? What is the 5th choice even "looking" at? Why won't it pull what I have on the Master Slide? I'm stumped!

ETA: I'm riding the struggle bus with quiz slides in general.

Question Title and Question Choice boxes on the Master Slide are set to font 16 and black font. However, the question slide itself has the font at 20 and the font color is different. Why wouldn't reset slide fix this? I have to go into each and every question choice and manually change the font size? What's the point of having the Master Slide then?

Hi Katie,

Thanks for sharing what you are experiencing along with your .story so that we could take a look.

I created a quick Peek 360 video to walk through what I was seeing and how you can make the adjustments.

I do not see a size 16 font related to the slide you shared. Can you let me know what you are having difficulty with? I'd be happy to take another look.

Thanks for your video.

Sorry, my edit was after I posted the STL file...kind of like "And another thing...!"

I think my biggest struggle is Reset Slide didn’t do what I hoped it would do.  I didn’t want to create question slides from scratch so I inserted Synergy as my base.

I created all the questions.  I get feedback of “Nah, we don’t love that gray text font, change it to black” So I changed the Master Slide.

But clicking Reset Slide does nothing to reset to the master slide I just made changes to. So if I rec'd feedback to change the layout, font color, whatever, I have to re-create all my question slides?

Hello Katie!

I'm happy to help! For what you're looking to customize, I'd recommend using the Format Painter and changing the theme colors rather than customizing the Slide Master. The Slide Master doesn't account for how much text you have on a slide, so you'll find the Format Painter and changing the theme colors to be exactly what you're looking for.

I've created a short demo explaining these two features and how you can use them with the Synergy template. Here's the link.

Let me know if you have any additional questions!
