Lauren, Thank you. I am looking for higher-quality voices. The robotic sound can become monotonous for long curriculums.

Hello, Michele!

I'm happy to share that we have released a new update for Storyline 360 (v3.80.30988.0.).

In this update, we included an enhancement for:

  • Support for NTTS or Neural Voices

Please update to the latest version of Storyline 360 to see this improvement. Here's how:

Update Authoring Apps

If you have any questions, please let us know in this thread or privately in a support case.

Have a great day!

Hi Emily!

Happy to jump in here!

I can confirm what Jurgen shared. The Text-to-Speech engine (Polly) that Storyline uses is developed by Amazon. However, our development team is tracking feedback on Additional Language Voices for TTS.

Currently, Storyline does offer an Irish-English-speaking Female voice.

To clarify, were you asking about a Male alternative? I'd be happy to include you in the feature report so you can be notified of any updates!

Just an FYI if anyone is using the built-in text-to-speech for languages other than English, even with the new neural voices we ran into some issues that are easily fixed but can be avoided if you know about them.

In the English text-to-speech, you can include things like ™ and colons, these will not be said when you generate the speech, but we have noticed in the Spanish (LA) speech for example, the generated speech seems to say everything. So trademark symbols and colons specifically we had a bit of a nightmare with, having to manually remove them so they wouldn't be said. No big deal, but can save you time if you know there are differences in how the English speech is generated vs other languages.

Hi Tex!

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know! So glad to hear you've been enjoying the neural Text-to-Speech options in Storyline!

I've included your feedback in the feature report we are currently tracking for Additional Language Voices for TTS. You're in the right place for updates and we'll be sure to let you know as soon as we have news to share!

Have a great rest of your week!

Hi Lata!

Happy to jump in here! It sounds like you were looking for more editing tools for Text-to-Speech in Storyline.

I'm happy to share we currently have a feature request logged to give authors the ability to speed up/slow down the pace of TTS! I've included you in the feature report and will update this discussion if it makes it onto our Feature Roadmap.

Have a great weekend!
