Tracking options - I have an optional help button on my current project - not all learners will need help - how do I set the tracking up for it?

Apr 19, 2023

Hey everyone.

I have been using Storyline since October and I am currently delving deeper into the reporting and tracking options. During this particular project, I have added a handy little help button called 'Ask Lucy' where a learner can view instructions as a reminder such as navigation or how to submit a quiz.

I am 99.99% positive that not all learners will want to click on all of the help buttons. My brain has been doing overtime thinking about this (non-logical brain I might add..) There are 53 slides in total, do I calculate the number of help slides and deduct this from the total?

The help slides for context are distributed throughout the story and are not isolated in one scene. I did this previously but was a little messy.

Any Reporting and Tracking experts that can help a gal out?!

As you've discovered, it gets tricky to track completion via slides viewed when there are optional slides.

In such courses, I think it's better to add a Completion trigger on the last slide and track with that.

Here's what a Completion trigger looks like:

When the course has at least one Completion trigger, the option to use triggers will show up in the Reporting and Tracking Options window:

you can remove slides from tracking (the function is somewhat hidden)

=> publish to LMS -> Reporting ... -> Tracking -> Slides in Project

@articulate: "Slides in Menu (3)" is wrong, it should be "Slides in Menu (5)" in this example - a new bug ???
