Different Question Types Within Same Interactive Video Quiz

Jan 19, 2022

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had managed to utilize different graded question types, e.g., True/False, fill-in-the-blank, multiple response, etc., for the same quiz slide when creating an interactive video.

When I attempted this, I could not figure out:

1.  how / where to see the results since they were customized questions and I could not use the built-in quiz slide templates

2.  how to allow video seeking / pausing without messing up the question timings / cue points

3.  how to successfully mix and match question types.

I ultimately chopped up the video and split them across multiple slides but this is time-consuming / cumbersome and significantly increased my Storyline file size, making it difficult to work with.  I'm sure there must be a better way of accomplishing the above, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Here's something that might work for you:  have the video interactions link to question slides. Those could be lightboxed or accessed with the Player features turned off (i.e., don't include the Menu or other features that might interfere). That would allow you to use standard question slides, and those could be linked to a Results slide.

Hey J T! Thanks for posting your question here! To go along with the helpful advice Judy shared, if you need learners to take a quiz that tracks their score and reports it to a Learning Management System (LMS), then using lightbox slides can do the trick. This example by Montse Anderson shows what that could look like. And if you haven't seen it already, this article might help you see what other ways you can build interactive videos in Storyline 360. Hope that helps!
