Interactive Graphic - How to?

Nov 21, 2022

Hello -

A client would like to include this graphic in a course.  They want the learner to be able to click on any of the pieces of the pie and for them to change colour.

What is the best way to do this?

I thought of doing each piece in illustrator then placing them all in storyline and using the change state to make the pieces different colours when clicked.

Does anyone have any other creative ideas?

TIA!

Can multiple segments be switched on at once, or will clicking one, switch another off?

I'd do something with Illustrator and states too. If only one segment was needed at a time, I'd have a single graphic with states showing each individual segment switched on. Doing it this way is a doddle for alignment etc. For this version I would add hotspots over each segment, that when clicked trigger the state change.

If multiple segments need to be switched on simultaneously, then you'd need to piece them all together in Storyline. It's a bit more work but possible. You might still need to use hotspots for this version, as I'm not sure whether the transparent area of each individual image will be clickable, and therefore overlap the hit state of other segments.
