Accessibility for users with visual disabilities

Hi everyone,

unfortunately I’m having a problem with the accessibility of a course created using Storyline 360. An image – which is important for the course because the user has to click on it to register their presence – is unfortunately not being ‘announced’ by the screen reader. The image can be reached using the Tab key; it is accessible and has alternative text, but the screen reader (JAWS) does not announce its presence ‘out loud’. What other settings do I need to change? What am I doing wrong? I’ve also tried replacing it with a button, but its appearance on the monitor is still not announced vocally.

Thank you very much.

Cristina

  • Hi GiovanniFinotto

Thanks for sharing the Storyline file and letting us know the training has been published on Moodle. I tested it in SCORM Cloud for a similar LMS experience and used JAWS and Chrome. Both images were announced when I navigated to them. I wasn't able to reproduce the issue. Here's an image of my JAWS speech history:

I'm curious whether you experience the same issue when testing my link, or if it's specific to Moodle?

Sorry, It’s one of the SCORM files I load onto Moodle

  • Have you tried using the down arrow? Are you testing in review?

Can you copy that one slide to a fresh file, remove any content from the page (e. g. replace all text with lorem ipsum), and upload it?
