212 TopicsBuilding a course that is navigable using Dragon (or similar)
Hi, I work for a Public Sector organisation, and want to make my courses as accessible as possible. I have alt text and reading order sorted, but wanted to ensure that my courses were navigable by voice navigation using Dragon or something similar. I really just need to know where Dragon takes it's name for the objects on the screen from. For instance, if there is an activity and the user has to select three objects, I want to be able to add in navigation prompts to the slide for instance 'voice navigation prompt - use raindrop 1, raindrop 2 etc'. Do I need to add alt text to the objects, or does Dragon read the object title that's displayed on the timeline? Or am I overthinking this, and Dragon makes it clear to the user what the object is called and so what they need to say to select it? thanks!5Views0likes0CommentsActive learners on another LMS
Hi I work for an association and we provide training to our members through our LMS product. However, we would like to branch out to enable our members to use our SCORM files on their own LMS platforms rather than being bound to use ours. Does anyone know if Articulate Rise/Storyline SCORM files can report back to their creator(s) any statistics e.g. how many times the course was accessed, quiz results, time spent completing the course... or anything at all? Many thanks in advance16Views0likes2CommentsDelete end continue button
Hello, I am having an issue with courses completing on LMS. I use Valamis platform. Can anyone advise why this would happen? Also, once I upload the course there seems to be a continue button to finish the course and a Exit button. Having multiple ways to finish the course be the issue? And can the complete button on the course be removed?17Views0likes0CommentsVideo transcript layout enhancement
Are there any plans to consider a side by side layout for embedded videos and transcripts? I have seen this on Moodle where it works really well, and also in Vimeo and Stream where transcripts follow the captions to the side of the video. Whilst I anticipate a response that enabling captions may suffice, we are receiving feedback regarding side by side video and transcripts from learners who express that for instructional / procedural videos it is important to see both simultaneously. Currently my team provide transcripts in an accordion beneath the video, but it's not providing the value the learners require. Thanks5Views0likes0CommentsClosed captions not appearing
Not sure what happened with the last update, but now closed captions are not appearing on my video. The project is a single slide, video dropped in and the srt file uploaded. when i look at the captions editor all the captions are there, when I preview the file, the first caption appears then nothing after that. This issue started today after the update, didn't have the issue earlier today when i did the exact same process. anyone else seeing this?Solved460Views7likes24CommentsAccessibility issue with Matching Interaction
Update: I have reported this as an issue. Case #00996648 When a user has answer a Matching style interaction, they are presented with the text feedback, as well as with icons indicating which responses are correct/incorrect. A non-visually impaired use would be able to use this feedback to determine which responses they have answered correct/incorrectly. This visual information is not available to screen reader users as it has not been provided programmatically. Therefore users using a screen reader to access the content will only receive the text feedback defined by the user. This means that non-visually impaired users have an advantage through visual feedback, over visually impaired users. This could be done by appending a "Correct" or "Incorrect" to each of the labels in the right hand column.14Views0likes0CommentsSorting Activity not accessible
FAO Articulate I think some of the information in this section is misleading: https://access.articulate.com/support/article/Rise-360-Choosing-Accessible-Components-to-Create-Online-Learning#inaccessible Currently Inaccessible This block is currently not in conformance with WCAG guidelines. We recommend not using it when creating accessible content. In case you do use it, we've provided a partial workaround. Interactive:Sorting activity No accessible instructions or status messages If using: Use a text block to provide instructions. I would highly recommend that this is marked as inaccessible without any possible workarounds. I have come across some clients using the interaction and attempting to use this workaround. In my opinion, there is not workaround. Screen reader users not receiving any kind of feedback when items are sorted cannot be addressed with instructions in a text block. It doesn't matter how many instructions are placed in a text block, it's never going to provide screen reader users with the dynamic feedback that is required to provide meaning to the interaction. My recommendation: Currently Inaccessible This block is currently not in conformance with WCAG guidelines. We recommend not using it when creating accessible content. In case you do use it, we've provided a partial workaround. Here is what works for the Glossary tabbed interaction: Down arrow to enter the tabbed interaction and start on the first panel header. Enter to focus on the first tab header ("A"). Tab to access the information below the first panel. Down arrow to read through the information below the first panel header. Here's what doesn't work: Moving from the bottom of the first panel's information to the header for the next panel ("B"). The Tab and Down arrow move to the next element on the page, which in my case is the Continue button. So, a lot of ppl have problem with the feature: import from PowerPoint to Story. WHICH PROBLEM? TAKING HOURS FOR 2 PAGES TO GET IMPORTED! I have some kind of solution. CHANGE THE FONTS TO OPEN SANS ( Default articulate font) in pptx and you will see the bar that never moves, move again!!! We tried it, we saw PowerPoint with 60+ pages and images in every page (which originally took something like 2hours or more) to get imported in about 30mins.!! In a fast computer the same pptx to 12 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Possible "problem" may be some kind of safety proof that storyline has by default. The process tries to match every character in every slide from PowerPoint and find or change the font separately, so apparently if you have the same fonts, it doesn't affect it as much. You would need to use fonts that are existing inside the articulate storyline (like open sans). In my case i used open sans cause it the default one in storyline when it opens. If storyline doesn't have the fonts used in the PowerPoint file, the program tries to change the font and match every single character, taking forever to load... Please do some tries and prove me im not crazy.23Views1like1CommentNew Matching lay-out
Last week we received the updated lay-out of the matching knowledge check. The moment I discovered it was a bit unlucky (during a presentation, got me a bit confused) but today I had some time to look into it. The changelog as following on the articulate website: Enhanced:Matching knowledge check blocks have been upgraded with intuitive navigation, full keyboard support, and comprehensive screen reader integration. Now, I think it's great that Articulate is improving it's software's accessibility, however, I don't see anything intuitive about the new design. A lot of new things have been added which for me only make the assignment more confusing. On the left side the hamburger icon and number suggest some sort of clickability, which is not there. The drop downs on the right give the assignment a new layer of intractability which only wouldn't want for the student. Overall the lay-out is a lot less clean and drains focus away from the content towards the design. Maybe a simple solution would be to add a slider which let's us choose between this lay-out and the previous one (or this one without the rings and bells). That's just my opinion, I was wondering what other think of the new lay-out!236Views7likes17Comments
