Hi, We currently have our course in English only, but more and more we get requests to translate the content. The content is mostly text and speech (generated with the text to speech feature). I know about the feature on how to export, translate and import again, but now with AI and LLM and translation tools like DeepL is there a smarter and easier way to do it than duplicating slides and courses in different languages? Anyone with ideas, experience or suggestions? I am happy to hear what you think.283Views8likes10CommentsClosed captions not appearing
Not sure what happened with the last update, but now closed captions are not appearing on my video. The project is a single slide, video dropped in and the srt file uploaded. when i look at the captions editor all the captions are there, when I preview the file, the first caption appears then nothing after that. This issue started today after the update, didn't have the issue earlier today when i did the exact same process. anyone else seeing this?Solved663Views7likes27CommentsNew Matching lay-out
Last week we received the updated lay-out of the matching knowledge check. The moment I discovered it was a bit unlucky (during a presentation, got me a bit confused) but today I had some time to look into it. The changelog as following on the articulate website: Enhanced: Matching knowledge check blocks have been upgraded with intuitive navigation, full keyboard support, and comprehensive screen reader integration. Now, I think it's great that Articulate is improving it's software's accessibility, however, I don't see anything intuitive about the new design. A lot of new things have been added which for me only make the assignment more confusing. On the left side the hamburger icon and number suggest some sort of clickability, which is not there. The drop downs on the right give the assignment a new layer of intractability which only wouldn't want for the student. Overall the lay-out is a lot less clean and drains focus away from the content towards the design. Maybe a simple solution would be to add a slider which let's us choose between this lay-out and the previous one (or this one without the rings and bells). That's just my opinion, I was wondering what other think of the new lay-out!1.2KViews17likes52CommentsStoryline 360 Update 99
On Tuesday, we shipped Update 99 of Storyline 360. This update has tons of fixes and enhancements, including an optimization to how closed captions are loaded by the player, the ability to drag and drop media files directly into the Media Library, and a fix for an issue that kept the NVDA screen reader from properly following focus order. The part of this release that I’m most excited about, however, is the addition of AI generated alt text for images. In Update 99, authors have the ability to ask the AI Assistant to create alt text for any image in their course. This can be done using new buttons in either the Size and Position dialog, or the Media Library side panel. In the example here, I’m dragging three images into the Media Library depicting a rock, some paper, and scissors. For each image I’m using the “Generate alt text” button to have AI describe the contents of the image. Here’s what it came up with for each: Rock: A shiny black coal-like mineral with uneven texture and jagged edges. Paper: A blank spiral-bound notebook on a wooden stand, flanked by two small potted plants on either side. Scissors: Two small ornate scissors with gold handles, one styled like a bird and the other with a traditional design, placed on a light background. It’s important to note that human review of the AI generated alt text is still very important. AI might fail to convey the context that you want for learners using assistive technology like a screen reader or simply misinterpret what the image contains. We will be capturing analytics and feedback from customers about the overall quality of the generated alt text so we can continue to refine and improve in the future. Have you used the AI Assistant to generate alt text in your courses yet? If so, I'd love to hear about how it worked for you in the comments! If you'd like to learn more about this feature or any of the other things that shipped with Update 99 check out the resources below: Release notes for Update 99 Documentation for AI generated alt text The 100th update of Storyline 360 is coming up on May 27th and we have some very exciting new features slated for release! If you want to get a sneak preview, some of those features are already available in the Storyline private beta program. Hello, Where I live we are legally required to meet WCAG standards which require a space of 2x the font size between paragraphs. In order to implement that I need control over spacing between paragraphs. This can't be done by adding empty <p> elements, which is poor practice. It should be done with margin and/or padding. I would also like control over space before/after headings for the same reasons. This functionality is provided in all comparable platforms and word processors. Even the text frame which I am typing into now does so. But not in Articulate Rise 360. Please allow the end user access to the stylesheet for text elements.8Views0likes0CommentsScreen Reader Not Reading Button States
Hey everyone, I noticed that after the last couple of Storyline 360 updates, my screen reader (JAWS and NVDA) no longer reads the alt text for button states. For example, I added "visited" for the alt text under the button's Visited state. This used to work fine but now the screen reader does not read the "visited" alt text and just reads the alt text for the normal state. My screen readers are up-to-date. Has anyone else experienced this?259Views0likes16CommentsAria-hidden
Since the last update a new warning shows in the console. Blocked aria-hidden on an element because its descendant retained focus. The focus must not be hidden from assistive technology users. Avoid using aria-hidden on a focused element or its ancestor. Consider using the inert attribute instead, which will also prevent focus. For more details, see the aria-hidden section of the WAI-ARIA specification at https://w3c.github.io/aria/#aria-hidden. Allthough it doesnot prevent anything from working i always get wary from these kind of messages as they often a warning for something changing in the near future. So please Articulate devs... do check if and where aria-hidden is used and if that might give issues in the near future.31Views0likes2CommentsMake audio play when object is tabbed to...
Good afternoon, I'm trying something out with a quiz slide and narration. I've got a multiple-choice slide and each answer option has it's own audio file to read the response for the user to choose. I'm trying to find a way for each audio file to play when the user tabs to the option instead of each option's state being 'selected'. Ideally I'd like the audio to play when the option 'gets focus' instead. I've attached a version of the quiz slide in question. All help gratefully received. Thank you Karen12Views0likes2CommentsStoryline vs Rise 360 - option is not available
In the storyline, we have an option when the video is playing, we can see the "notes" or "transcripts" section. This option is useful for the deaf learners, they can simply click the play button and watch the notes/transcripts to know what the instructor has spoken about in the video. (attached image 1) In Rise 360, I explored all the options. Unfortunately, we do not have an option to play video, and notes/transcripts should display on the same screen. We just have the "IMAGE & TEXT" option only. articulate Team, is there any way, instead of an image, we can upload a video option? (Attaching image 2 FYNA, please.) Looking forward to your response/solution, please. Thank you & have a great day ahead!39Views0likes3Comments
