Advice on Storyline working with Screenreaders

Obviously, I know Storyline doesn't have any real control over how different screen readers behave but I'm having the same problems each time i work with them.

Firstly, the screen reader reads out stuff I don't want read out and isn't included on the Focus order. For example, everytime it goes on to a slide it starts by saying 'Slide colon' and then follows it with the title of the slide. Neither of which I want read out.

Also when working with slide layers, it doesn't read out the text on the layer (which is included in the focus order).

Any advice on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Howard,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you're seeing. I'd be happy to help and share advice.

What screen reader are you currently using?

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file (even a single slide to represent what you shared above) to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

  • Thanks for sharing your project file with me in a support case, Howard. I'll respond to you privately via email and we can continue working together there.

  • I click on accessibility and uncheck the box that says, "recognizeable by screen reader"
