AI Tutor and source content
Hi JBB,
AI Tutor is grounded in the published course content and can reference that content in its responses. However, direct access to source files isn't available at this time. This means source materials used during course creation, including files uploaded to AI Assistant, aren't used as an additional knowledge source for AI Tutor.
Regarding PDFs, AI Tutor can reference content that exists within the course itself, but direct access to source files isn't currently supported. As a result, content contained only within a PDF resource wouldn't be available to AI Tutor unless that information is also included in the course content.
As for future plans, we're considering ways to expand this capability, such as through a resource library.
If having AI Tutor use uploaded source materials would be valuable for your use case, I'd encourage you to share that feedback directly with our team here. Feedback submitted through that form goes directly to the product team working on that feature.
Hi, Eric. It seems this capability was added at some point recently. I don't see it in the list of Rise's changes but can definitely upload documents to a repository in Rise.
I shared some feedback at the link you provided but accidentally pressed Enter before inputting all of it. Do you know if anyone in the Tutor space has discussed the ability to give the AI tutor URLs to lookup as resources as well? For instance the most current version of a company's C-suite or the menu on a restaurant's website.

Hi AndrewBlemings-,
I'm happy to jump in here!
Thank you for the additional feedback. Currently, AI Tutor is grounded in the published course material, and it doesn’t browse the web.
Are there specific situations where being able to add URLs as resources for AI Tutor would be helpful for your team? Is there a workaround you’re currently using to accomplish this?
While I can’t promise if or when this functionality will be added, I’ll make sure your feedback is documented along with the context you’ve shared!

I understand no promises can be made. Due to however guardrails work, it may even present too much risk of bad actors.
Since some information resources are hosted by companies internally and are often replaced as new versions are published, a hypothetical Rise course that (pretending I know what I'm talking about) queries a URL, copies its contents, and factors those contents in when it replies to users would enable the inclusion of dynamic data.
1. An onboarding curriculum's AI trainer could have the most up-to-date names and titles of the employer's C-suite and board of directors.2. Compliance training could always incorporate the latest Code of Conduct (so long as it's republished to that one place each time) which is more evergreen than a static PDF.
3. By adding a share.articulate link, perhaps the AI tutor of one Rise course could incorporate either one lesson of or the whole of another course in its responses as well.
If I could for instance enter a URL to a directory folder on an internal server (assuming SSO allowing those requests) and the latest version of those documents in that folder were included in the AI tutor's responses, the AI tutor would always have the most current information.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for taking the time to share these thoughtful examples! I can see how having AI Tutor reference up-to-date external resources could be valuable, especially for onboarding, compliance training, and keeping information consistent across courses.
We appreciate you sharing these use cases and helping us better understand what you're hoping to accomplish with AI Tutor!

Maybe I was predicting the future?
Maybe it was there before and I just missed it? I'll have to test this, but it looks awesome!
