Articulate Rise AI Tutor Defaults to ON - Concerns

Hi everyone, we are very concerned that the AI Tutor publishing feature is defaulted to ON.  For our enterprise license, this is very concerning as we have no way to manage the use other than to advise our seats to not use it unless approved by their legal team.  We have no way to track if groups are using it when they are not permitted, we have no way to turn it off administratively or to control who is using it.

We were able to go through a process of approval for the internal AI features that are visible and available to our developers, but this is actually an end-user-facing AI function - which is outside of the scope of our original approval.

This opens us to liability issues and frankly puts into question if we have to drop the use of AI entirely just to manage this vulnerability.  How are you managing your developers utilizing the AI Tutor?

    Hello,

If AI Tutor is enabled by default and admins can’t centrally disable it, monitor usage, or restrict it to approved groups, that creates a real governance gap for enterprise environments. We’ve taken a cautious approach by treating it as an end-user AI feature rather than assuming it falls under the existing developer AI approval. I’d recommend getting clear answers from the vendor on administrative controls, usage auditing, data handling, and whether the feature can be disabled at the tenant/group level before allowing it broadly.

      Hey natasha052,

Thanks for the feedback after exploring AI Tutor in Rise.

You're correct. Currently, there is no option to set AI Tutor to 'OFF' by default. Our team is aware of this limitation and is currently exploring ways to give authors more control over these options.

We'll be sure to notify you as soon as we have news to share!

Hi Natasha, agreed!  We've asked our developer community to not use the feature until we would get enterprise approval for it, but short of examining each of the 150+ courses we release a month, we have no way to audit if the AI Tutor is turned on for any particular course.  Other than turning off the AI feature totally (which we're paying for), we have no administrative way to stop developers from using AI Tutor or even knowing if it has been used.  There is no report we can run that shows a Rise course is utilizing AI Tutor.

    Appreciative for your input--Sandy

I am also concerned about this being on by default and wish to have it disabled since it is also out of scope of our original approval. I was taking a course someone else created when I noticed it so I sought out where it originated and found it was enabled by default for new courses. Since the solution that was reached was not shared with this thread, I've opened my own support case.
