Animating Fade Ins on text paragraphs

Any way to have the text fade in by paragraph after an object has been clicked? I know how to adjust the timeline, but when I set an object's initial state to hidden I'd like it to reveal by paragraph when a button is clicked.
It will fade in as a whole when clicked but when I set it to fade in by paragraph it only obeys the timeline.
