Articulate 360 Peek Window issues
I apologize is this is covered elsewhere, but I didn't see it if it is. I have dual monitors because I find it easier to develop that way (pull up material in Word on one screen, copy into Storyline on the other). The Peek screen recorder seems to be a bit confused by that. When I try to record something, the "window" that shows up is about four inches from the screen I choose.
For example, if I choose "full screen" of the monitor on my left, it puts the red box mostly in the middle of the two monitors instead of fully over the left side. I am posting a screen shot of where the window goes on this page for an example (attached). The weird thing is that it will record the screen as if it is in the proper place (though does record the line of record box itself). If I move it with the move crosshairs to cover the window fully over the where I want it, it does not record correctly (it acts offcenter). I've tried playing with various things in Properties to see if it is a "compatability" thing, but haven't found an answer yet. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi Anton and Karyn,
I'm sorry you're still struggling with this. Have you tried disabling the additional monitor to see if that is interfering with the record set up? Also when choosing the recording section are you picking a particular window or choose to record full screen?
Sorry you're having trouble with Peek, Anton. Can you tell me a bit more about your set up?
Specifically...
- What version of Windows are you using?
- Are you using dual monitors?
- What happens when you try recording with Peek?

Greetings
I am running Windows 10, I have dual monitors.
Peek does not capture the section of screen that is in the RED box
I set the RED box to record the whole of screen 1, but what it recorded was ¼ of screen 2 (LHS of video)https://360.articulate.com/review/content/f64b69b5-fd08-4197-8eb0-ae125c8c9e40/review

I have had to stop using Peek because of this. So far nothing I have tried seems to capture the exact area I need. I hope because of this thread it will get fixed:)

I have the same issue, has not been resolved yet, any news?
Hey Steve,
Thanks for those links! I'd like to be sure I'm envisioning your set-up correctly. Are you using a laptop with a docking station and an external monitor? When you disconnect from the docking station, does Peek recording a black screen?

Hey, all.
Has there been a resolution to this error, I believe I have the same problem. See https://360.articulate.com/review/content/1eaacadb-e7bc-401c-b7ae-9b2e140827f2/review
When I start the recording the area, it wants to capture it is not in line with the window, but if I move it to line up, then it cuts off half the screen. See https://360.articulate.com/review/content/423f4291-4faa-4097-8361-971161cc9054/review
When I don't line the recording window up, as you can see, it captures the whole screen, but the mouse is off to the left.
When I disconnect my docking station, i get this https://360.articulate.com/review/content/73a8277b-01ee-4812-854b-5e1767488a33/review.
Please advise.
Hi Karyn,
Have you tried just disconnecting it from your second monitor? I haven't run into this issue with my dual monitors, but I keep them as separate desktops not just stretched across the screen. It's something our team is still evaluating, so we'll keep you posted here once we have some updates on this!

Hi
I was looking for the same answer. No matter where I set the parameters of the recording, it seems to actually record about 3 inches left of where I placed the record area. I don't know if this is related to two screen or not, but so far I can't use these record options - which is really a bummer.
Thanks for giving that a try too - I'll include that detail in the report with our team as well.
I absolutely will DeLora as I'd hate to be stuck without Peek, it's my favorite of the Articulate 360 tools as it's so easy to do the screen recordings. Are you able to disconnect the dual monitor set up when you need to do a recording in the meantime?

In general, I can't live without my monitors even for a short time - must
have a dual personality :)I will try Peek at some point with my home setup without monitors. I have
an older version of Captivate I can use for Screen Capture in the meantime
though.Thanks.
LOL - I understand, lots of my coworkers feel the same. I like to be a bit more mobile so learned to use laptop only. Extra screen feels like a bonus!
Have you tried any of the other screen recording tools in Articulate 360 to see if they're giving you the same issue? Replay 360 and/or screen recording in Storyline would be something I'd look to before before defaulting to an older version of...ahem, Captivate. :)
Thanks DeLora for the image - it is something that we reported to our QA team as a software bug. Depending on priority and risk, some bugs can be fixed quickly, while others take longer to resolve. Here's more information on how we identify and tackle bugs.
I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this issue. Thanks so much again for letting us know about this, and I’m sorry if it’s slowing you down.- DeLoraReardonCommunity Member
Thanks much for letting me know. I can't really use Peek until this is
fixed, so please do update me if it is resolved. Thanks!
