Autosave
Hello Mien!
That's correct, Storyline 3 has an auto-recovery setting and not an autosave function.
You can find the auto-recovery files by looking in your temp folder. You'll need to save the project first, and then it will initiate the auto-recovery feature.
Here's how to look in your temp folders for Storyline 3 projects:
1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
Let me know if you have additional questions!
I have auto-recovery set to 10 minues. I went to the temp folder and the most recent temp file is from 2 weeks ago - even though I've been using storyline every day. Why isn't the auto-recovery working?

Hi, angelo!
Can you please confirm that you've been saving your progress prior to checking the the temp folder? The autosave feature will return you to an earlier version of your course if Storyline crashes or you close the app accidentally. Currently, it doesn't consistently save your file, having it accessible to you if the software closes unexpectedly. Please let me know if you have additional questions!

Yes. Usually, I save every few hours (although today, I've been saving every 30 minutes or so). A PC crash led me to this thread, which is when I discovered that I didn't have any temp files for the last 2 weeks.
Luckily, I only lost 3 hours of work.
Follow Up - it appears that the backup file has started working again. My guess (and nothing more) is that going into the settings to verify the auto-recover was turned on reactivated the feature.

Hi angelo,
Thanks for the quick follow up!
I'm sorry to hear you lost 3 hours of work, and I understand how frustrating that can be. I'm glad to hear the feature is working properly for you again, so please don't hesitate to reach out here or privately in a case if you notice any erratic behavior!
