Background Image Blurry

Hello All,

I have a problem and I cannot figure out the solution for the life of me. I'm creating an interactive tutorial and I have multiple free form text entry slides in a row. I've realized that the only way for those boxes to show up without having to click on them is to send the text entry to the back of the timeline but if I have a picture then it still does not work. So I added the picture to the background of the slide but when I do that the picture becomes really blurry. I can't find any sort of setting that I have on that would cause this and it occurs in preview and when published. I did not scale the picture at all, it's just showing up blurry when I add it to the background. Please help!

Steve

  • Hey there, Steven. It sounds like you are formatting the slide background with a picture, rather than adding the picture directly to the slide's timeline. Is that correct?

If you can create a sample slide or two to share with me, that would be super. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here.  I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

  • Hi Crystal,

I am experiencing the same issue as Steven was 3 years ago. I am required to add the image as a background, and unfortunately inserting it as am image on the slide master instead of the background won't suffice. Are you able to assist me here?

  • Hello Sevana,

One common reason for a blurry image is a mismatch between the resolution of an image and the slide size of a Storyline 360 project file. You can check out the article below for our best practices for high quality media files:

If the resolution of your image file isn't too far off from the size of the slide, would you be willing to upload a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a case so we can see what's going on? We'll delete it afterwards.

  • your slide size (720x540)  is to small - the background pictures are exported with size 720x540 Pixel

with slide size 1440x1080 the result

if you start your training on a normal HD monitor the second version looks much more better

  • Thanks Jürgen, appreciate your reply. Sorry, just to clarify, what would your recommendation be here?

  • if you want better image quality you have to resize the the slide size

    that your Slide Size

    try doubling the Slide Size
