Blurry Image Issues

Let's keep adding to the fire that is 'blurry images on export'.

If you look at the image on the left:

It is clearly compressing an otherwise high resolution, and sharp source.

The example on the right had me doing just as @Spiros mentioned in the comments of the first link; I replaced the image in the StoryLine package with the original image, ensuring to keep the same name.

I've done this in the past to try and minimise the artefacting and compression where clarity is needed - but it's disappointing that after so many years, this issues persists. Moreso because one can just do a drop-in replacement in the package, and there's no issues in display. I don't like the idea of having to replace all the images in the exported StoryLine folder by renaming the source images and then dropping them in.

This is working with .png images; I suspect part of the issue could be that the source image is higher resolution than presented (ie. it is scaled down); so SL360 is trying to 'optimize' this by resizing the image to suit its scaled dispaly, but with some pretty heavy-handed compression; even though I've specified the highest quality for publishing -

I noticed this too. I almost feel like between versions this issue has come up (I have recently updated to the latest version and that's when I notice it for .png and .jpg files with image quality turned up to 100%).

I have great news to share!

We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 63, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

One of the fixes we’ve included is:

We improved how Storyline 360 handles images during import and in the published output, resulting in crisper images.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

I am happy to hear that in Storyline 360 is working better on images. But I have two issues here. The online version Storyline. That I usually have to get off my vpn to use storyline, which is why I still use Storyline 3. I still have to insert my files as Windows Enhanced.... files.
