Can I convert any shape to be a button?

Understand that you don't need states for a user action to cause another action; just a trigger. I personally prefer my buttons to have less baggage of the type built-in buttons bring. (If nothing else, I want to avoid cookie-cutter appearance.)
Walt - I am more of storyboard person, and practicing Vyond and Storyline to be better at it.
Is there any course that I can do to upskill myself?
