Can a user turn off the sidebar

Re storyline 3.

I use the sidebar to show slide dialogue/narration due to some users preferring to listen/read the course. (example pic attached)

I would ideally like a button that would essentially allow users to turn off and on the sidebar as they wish, I can't find an easy way to do this.

Current thought is to have 2 versions of the course one with and one without and allow users to change between which would mean updating each slide and a much larger published file. Hoping there is an easier way.

  • Hi, Sarah,

The classic player in SL3 doesn't allow the user to turn the player-level sidebar.

You could use captions instead. However, those do appear along the bottom of the slide, so you have to keep that in mind when designing your layouts.

Can this be done in Storyline 360? I would like the course to launch with the side bar in the modern player collapsed.  Is this possible?

With the Modern player, there's a checkbox for indicating whether the course should start with the sidebar collapsed.
