Can't find a file

Hello

Last year, I created a game on Storyline. I am working on a project that appeared under recent files. However, since I have created more content, it is not there anymore. I used %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline  to track it, but in the folders that appear, the slide doesn't appear. How can I find it?

Thank you

Silvia

  • Silvia,

Have you tried to search for *.story on your local computer? This should return any Story project files and their location on your computer.

  • Hi Silvia, and welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community!

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having trouble locating your file and I understand how frustrating that can be. Richard's suggestion is a great place to start. Here's how to search your temp files:

    • Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
    • Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
    • Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
    • Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions, please let me know.

  • Hi there

A couple of questions on Review 360

How do I locate the Articulate Review output folders ? it says the destination folder is Documents/My Articulate Projects.... but when I check they are not there, it contains only the output folders for projects I published to LMS. I have also tried the search methods  suggested in this thread but that bought no joy either, again no Review folders? I am stumped now on where to find them, can anyone help?

Also the person I am wanting to share the Review file with is unable to open the production file even though I have set it to upload project file to Review 360 which I thought meant that anyone I send the link to can view the project file whether they are in my Articulate team or not, is that correct?

thank you so  much (in advance)

    Julie

      Hello Julie,

      Happy to help!

Publishing courses directly to Review 360 doesn't product a published output. You'll only see a "published output" when you publish a Storyline 360 course for manual uploading to Review 360.

Regarding the Cloud Backup feature, "only you and your team members who have a seat can access your project backups. Everyone must be signed in with their Articulate ID. The option to download the source file won't display for anyone outside of your team". You can check out this article for more information on how to use the Cloud Backup feature.

      Hope this helps!
