Can't interact with objects in slide master

The background image on your slides "blocks" any objects on the slidemaster. Instead of adding these images to the slides' timeline, right-click on a slide and select Format Background. Then select Fill>Picture or patterns and insert the image file.
I had a feeling it had something to do with the background image!
I changed it and it works, thank you very much!
But isn't there a way for the slide master to be the lead instead of the individual slides?
