When you insert a shape, you can right click and format the shape to your liking. After that, you can right click and set this as your default shape.
If you will need this for numerous project, you could always save the shape into a template file.
Too bad it doesn't work for imported images. I have a style I apply to all images. It would be nice to save custom picture style presets.
