Closed captioning, and I convert word document into SRT, VTT, SBV and SUB files?
Working on adding CC into a project, is it possible to convert a word doc into SRT, VTT, SBV and SUB files? If so, how do I do that?
Hi Ulf,
Good question! I found a similar post, and the solution Ren suggested is still applicable and may be helpful to you.
Storyline only supports SRT, VTT, SBV, and SUB files, so if you already have the captions in Word format, you can use the Text-to-Speech option to generate captions automatically. Then, you can use the option to Replace Audio. Here's a link to the post with more details.
Let me know if this does the trick!

Hi Eric,
Thank you for reaching back out to me. Unfortunately since this project will be in the cloud, we are not allowed to use Text to speech. Is there another way of doing it that?

Hi Ulf,
Thanks for clarifying your current setup!
As a workaround to Text-to Speech, I'd like to recommend utilizing ChatGPT to generate your Closed Captioning.
Here's how you can achieve this:
- You'll just instruct ChatGPT to "Convert this text to SRT: (Include your text from the Word Doc)" and see that generated text appears with captioning formatting.
- From there, you can copy/paste the text and save this as a VTT/subtitle file.
As a reminder, here's an article on how you can import closed captions into Storyline 360.
Also, It looks like part of your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if needed by clicking ‘Edit’ beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, just let us know!
