Creating downloadable pdf files in Storyline - an update on earlier methods
Thanks for all this JohnCooper-be3c.
I tried loading the template to the Storyline Resources repository (so I can skip manually adding the form to the .zip after publishing and/or loading to the web). So in the script: formURL = story.content/external_files/NotesTemplate.pdf
It seems to be working in Review 360. Any reason I should not host the template this way?

I sometimes do it that way and it works. Or, I use a web object to host the files.

I can’t think of any reason this wouldn’t work. Files added to Storyline Resources are published to story_content/external_files and served from the same origin as the course, so pdf-lib can fetch them without any CORS issues.
If it’s already working in Review 360, it should behave the same in an LMS or web-hosted environment. The only things to watch are path accuracy and making sure the script runs after the course has loaded — neither of which are specific to using Resources. Nice neat solution!!

I suggested the same solution a while ago in response to MichaelT1 in this thread, and it has been confirmed to work flawlessly. I don’t see any reason not to host this template in this way, as a web object or on a dedicated server, with only minor adjustments to the main script.
