CUSTOM PLAYER FEATURES by INDIVIDUAL SLIDE - AUDIO

We can customize some player features by individual slides, which is most useful!

When are we going to be able to customize all the features, particularly audio?

Under the current version, I cannot turn off audio, which is necessary when you combine narration on slides with embedded videos that have their own mandatory controls.

Thank you!

  • I do a lot fun things with audio, so I can picture stopping all the narration clips on a slide when a video clip begins using triggers.

So, can you elaborate on the actual problem that you're running into?  I'd like to try and help if I can.

  • Ok.

First, suppose the Storyline asset has narration on every slide.  We must keep audio turned on.

Second, suppose one of slides has a video from a third-party video service.  The videos come with built-in mandatory audio/visual controls.  We must embed these into Storyline (iframes) and we cannot remove the built-in A/V controls.

This causes an issue of duplicated audio controls on the video slide, because we do not have the option to turn audio off in the custom player feature settings.

I hope this clarifies the issue.  Thanks!

  • Hello BJ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

There isn't a way to disable audio via the custom player settings, but you can disable any audio files in your slides using the Pause/Stop media trigger.

Can you tell me more about how you'd like your audio to behave in your slide so I can check if its currently supported?

  • We need to be able to turn off audio in the custom player features setting to address a common issue.

Duplicate audio controls causes problems for learners.  Please see attached.  There is a video audio control and a storyline audio control - duplicates.  Not everyone can remove third-party a/v controls.

Thanks for the additional information. Yes, turning off the slide audio completely without the use of triggers is not possible.

I’ll be happy to pass your thoughts on to our product team, but you can also feel free to detail them more through a feature request!

  • Thanks, Joe, please do forward as an enhancement request. I've requested this before as well.

  • Hi BJ,

Thanks for your thoughts on turning off slide audio! I have submitted a feature request on your behalf. If the request makes it onto our feature roadmap, we’ll make sure to update you in this conversation!
