Default Settings for Alt Text
I had to dig deep, but I found an article that says "By default, screen readers announce each object on the slide according to its name in the timeline panel."
Is this true? Do I have to manually ...

Thanks for following up! That is correct. If you don't make any adjustments regarding hiding an object from a screen reader, the screen reader will automatically read the default object name for every object on my slide.
