Dell Optiplex 990 desktop computer for Storyline -- anyone still using it here?

Six years ago, I used a Dell i3, Optiplex 990 Desktop computer for Storyline projects, it worked fine for me. I am Currently retired, but thinking of getting back in on a freelance basis.

Why buy the latest hardware if the Storyline software is not optimized for the newer 64-bit multi-core systems?  I also had Adobe creative cloud with it, it too worked fine.  Encoding video with Encore was slow if I had to batch-process a bunch of clips, however,  that was not much of a big deal. As an alternative to speed up encoding, and video editing, I could get a Mac Mini M1, and do the media projects on it, and port them over to the Optiplex.

I am interested to hear what others think about this possible strategy.

  • Hello,

    Welcome back to E-Learning Heroes!

As long as your computer meets the minimum system requirements needed to run Storyline 360, then you should be able to use it for authoring purposes.

Since it's a 6 year old machine, it may not run as smoothly compared to newer hardware, but it should still work. Note that the minimum OS requirement for Articulate 360 is Windows 10, so please consider updating if you are running an older OS.

If you run into any issues while installing Articulate 360, open a case with our support team here for additional assistance.
