Designing a Rise course to track better in Canvas
On Canvas Scorm 2004 works best. Whether you use Rise or Storyline.
When I tested them all at Cody's suggestion 3 years ago, I identified xAPI as the best option. It has been working well since then, other than a few blips, like last August, when Canvas updated something that caused it not to track. I have to have it track module requirements because I use Canvas Catalog and that's how it determines course completion. Math, did you have problems with SCORM 2004 in August?

No problems at all with Scorm2004. Actually agree with you that xAPI ( or any other way of saving data externally ) is better, but as said...its external on a LRS. And for us at the University that is key. Correcting myself...rereading your response? You have xAPI working properly inside Canvas ? Thats news to me...was under the impression that xAPI in Canvas itself was poorly and limited implemented, thus you needed an external LRS to use it properly. Would love to know more about the exact way you implemented xAPI in Canvas...especially when its indeed IN Canvas...
