When using the freeform Drag and Drop, the built-in states will do all the work for you. Just make sure you have the Delay Feedback option unchecked in the Drag and Drop Options:
You can then add states to your object for Drop Correct and Drop Incorrect. The way you design those states is what the user will see as feedback. For example:
