Drag and Drop: Object won't release after letting go of the left click

I'm not sure what's going on. I created a drag and drop puzzle that was working fine this morning. Now, however, when I drag a piece to its correct spot, and then release the left click button on the mouse, it doesn't release. The piece just floats with the mouse wherever I move it.

When dragged and dropped into place, a window with information pops up on a separate layer. There's a close button (X) to hide that layer and return to the base layer. However, that button, which is part of a group, doesn't show up.

I have some Javascript/GSAP attached to a "Congratulations" slide, but like I said - it was all working until this afternoon.

(Actually, before I posted this, I deleted the Javascript. Didn't make a difference. Still have the same problem.)

I did restart my computer this afternoon, but that couldn't have any effect on it, could it?

File is attached.

I just tried to replicate the issue on my end and everything worked as expected. All drag items dropped correctly onto their targets upon mouse release, and the "Close" button appeared as intended. (See example below.)

I recommend trying a different mouse to rule out any hardware issues. If the problem persists, it may be worth reaching out to Articulate Support for further assistance.

Yeah, I'm working on it at home now and am still getting the same results.

      Hello MichaelWest

Thanks for reaching out! I cannot experience this floating behavior when testing on my end

      • Are you experiencing this when previewing your course or just when published
      • Do you notice any change if you import your slides into a brand new .story file?
      • Is this happening with any other project files or just this one?

As a troubleshooting step, you could try a repair of Storyline 360. A repair can fix some erratic behavior across project files.

If the repair doesn't do the trick, we'd be happy to investigate this further within this thread or privately in a support case

Looking forward to hearing from you!

This worked for me as well. One thing you could try is make a new drag n drop slide and copy n paste your assets into that slide and rebuild the Form View.
